Night Shift Extrusion Operator

Job Scope: The Extrusion Operator is to be proficient in producing pet food kibbles within a set specification, while organizing changeovers with minimal lost time.  This person must be capable of performing routine equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting quality concerns.

Work Environment: Work is primarily performed indoors near operating equipment and loud noise such as forklift horns and loose particles may be present. At different times throughout the year, work performed in this job requires employee to work in hot weather. Work performed in this job requires employee to wear a bump cap, hearing protection, safety shoes/boots, and safety glasses at all times.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Be proficient in the knowledge of product specifications.
2. Be proficient in the knowledge of screeners, grinders, and grinding bin capacities.
3. Be proficient in the knowledge of determining and regulating temperature, feed, fat, dry digest, and water rates.
4. Be proficient in the knowledge of quality control, and achieve quality control specifications.
5. Capable of understanding and following HACCP requirements (CCP #1).
6. Operate extruders, elevators, turn head, dryers, coolers, fat coaters, fat injection systems, fresh meat grinding and injection systems, and capable of performing routine adjustments and changeovers.
